CenturyArks Co., Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Takeshi Saito) is pleased to announce the official release of the BothView C-mount model, a derivative product of the SilkyEvCam® event-based vision camera product, on Thursday, October 31, 2024.

The new SilkyEvCam® BothView C-mount model was developed in response to requests from many event camera users.

In order to further enhance the advantages of event cameras, which are characterized by ultra high-speed sensing of luminance changes on a pixel-by-pixel basis and a wide dynamic range that is not easily affected by the illumination of the operating environment, we have been asked to view conventional frame-based images as well.
Until now, the common method has been to place an event camera and a frame camera in parallel to capture images, but parallax was inevitable and additional correction processing was required.
The advantages of event cameras, such as low data capacity and low power consumption, were not fully utilized. This product does not generate parallax because it captures images with a single eye, and by utilizing a beam splitter to split the incident light from the lens to the frame sensor and event sensor, it is possible to acquire event images and frame images at the same time. In addition, data synchronization is achieved by sending timing signals from the frame sensor to the event sensor.

We expect that this new product will contribute to the promotion of understanding of event cameras and the expansion of applications and academic research. We have received a high level of interest when we exhibited this product as a reference at the recent VISION 2024, the world's leading machine vision exhibition held in Germany, and we have already received multiple inquiries regarding specifications as well as requests for quotations.
