Event-Based Vision Camera Application Idea and Algorithm Contest for Students and Researchers Begins on April 10!

CenturyArks Co., Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Takeshi Saito) is pleased to announce that we hold a contest for students and researchers to challenge to come up with ideas and algorithms for the utilization of SilkyEvCam®, an event-based vision camera that captures only changes in luminance. Entry will be accepted from Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
This contest is a new step forward in the field of image processing. Entrants will demonstrate the results of their studies and research to date and use an event-based vision camera to solve familiar and social problems with a new approach that is not available with conventional frame cameras. In addition, a seminar for those who will be using this camera for the first time will be held.
Contest outline
■Entry and Submission Periods (Japan Time, JST)
Entry period: Wednesday. April 10, 2024 – Wednesday. July 31, 2024

Submission period: Monday. July 1, 2024 – Tuesday. September 10, 2024 (JST)
*The contest entrant (or the entrant representative if entering as a team or group) will be loaned one of Turnkey package of SilkyEvCam® (VGA), an entry-level model of the SilkyEvCam®.

*If the total number of entries reaches the expected number, we may closed the entry even during the entry period.
■Eligible entrants
・University students/garaduate students, technical college students, vocational college students and their student teams
・Young researchers/research teams from universities/colleges, related institutions and other research organizations
■Contents to be required to submit for this contest
1) Idea and Algorithms of the apllication using event-based vision camera “SilkyEvCam®”
2) Video(s) and/or prototype(s) (implemented work) delivered from above item 1)
*Situations/scenes/methods with utilizing the application are also proposed and included in submissions.
■Awards and Prizes
・[Grand Prize] Number of Awards:1
Prize money of 100,000 Japanese yen and winner's submitting work will be posted on a specialized magazine, etc.
・[Award of Excellence] Number of Awards:1
Prize money of 50,000 Japanese yen and winner's submitting work will be posted on a specialized magazine, etc.
・[CenturyArks Award] Number of Awards:1
Prize money of 30,000 Japanese yen
The results is scheduled to announce in the end of November or early December, 2024.

We will hold the "Event Base Vision Camera Basic" seminar (in Japanese) where you can learn how this camera works, its features and basic usage.
